God rewards seeking…
If you’re like many of us, there have been times when you’ve prayed your heart out but nothing happens. No movement, no change, no magic. Nothing. You start to feel hopeless and helpless.
Sometimes it’s not that we haven’t prayed hard enough, it’s that we aren’t seeking hard enough. Let’s unpack that so that it can empower us to get what we prayed for.
You prayed for it, you made your request known to God, you’re waiting for it, you’re believing for it. Ok, but what about seeking? The bible said, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well” (Matthew 6:33).
This is for some folks who are ready to see a supernatural shift…
Pray attention…prayer has two main purposes. To communicate with God and to prepare our mind to “first seek.” What we often do is just the former — communicate or tell God what we want. That’s not seeking, that’s telling.
First seeking means to first pursue, first understand, first get ready, first be in alignment with divine order. When you bring a prayer or request to God are you asking God to reveal His requirements of you? Are you asking God to reveal what you must first seek, do, know, understand, or finish for your request? Are you asking God to show you anything that is hindering or blocking your blessing?
First seek is the requirement beloved. God repeats this to us in Hebrews 11:6: “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who diligently seek him.” To, “Diligently seek Him,” literally means to seek the wisdom of God, seek alignment with God and our prayers, seek the faith to wait with confidence.
God tells us again, “Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding” (Proverbs 4:7). How can we seek without getting understanding? How can we be diligent without wisdom? The Bible declares, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding” (Proverbs 9:10). Prayer without fear or reverence for understanding or knowledge, prevents us from seeking.
This is not shouting music but it’s for somebody who is feeling like their payers aren’t being heard…somebody who’s wondering why their prayers alone haven’t opened the door. You applied half of the word beloved, not the whole word.
Jesus said, “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you” (John 15:7). Did you read the requirement — “If you abide in the Word and the Word abide in you.” The Word said, “First seek.” If we aren’t first seeking, is the Word abiding in us? Is our prayer Word based? If our seeking doesn’t accompany our prayer, the prayer is not abiding in the Word.
The word said, “But first seek the Kingdom of God and His righteous, and all these things will be given to you as well.” God also said, “He rewards those who diligently seek him.”
Now, I know most of us were taught to just drop our prayers off at heavens door and sit and wait for the sky to open. But by now, you ought to know that is not Kingdom principle or wisdom. That’s prosperity gospel.
Kingdom currency is first seeking. Prayer power is prayer that is accompanied by first seeking.
For those of you who have been fervently praying, repeatedly asking, go back into your prayer closet and ask God to reveal to you the wisdom you need to seek and to do what is required of you in this season, for this blessing. What fruit needs to be matured, what work needs to be done, what actions need to be taken, what steps need to be taken for you to manifest this blessing.
The Bible declares, “The blessing of the LORD makes one rich, And He adds no sorrow with it” (Proverbs 10:22). In other words, our blessings will not cause us sorrow, not seeking will. Your blessing is not what you’re waiting on, your blessing is what you’re supposed to be seeking beloved.
Speak life over your prayers…”I‘m not just waiting, I’m seeking!”
